Learn to play with confidence
If you’ve played golf for a few years now, odds are you’ve been on the receiving end of a golf tip. Maybe it was advice you solicited from a place like this one or from a golf professional, or perhaps it was the other kind that you weren’t asking for that came from a know- it-all in your foursome (we hate when that happens). It seems as though there’s no shortage of techniques, strategies, systems, methods, theories and styles of golf instruction, and it’s hard to avoid. What one instructor tells you about curing a slice could very well be the opposite of what another instructor says. I’ll bet if you look hard enough, you may even ?nd contradictions in the instruction in this very issue. Point being, there’s no shortage of different kinds of good golf instruction out there to choose from.
Golf Technique Lessons
And that’s a problem. Finding the right stuff to help improve your game has never been more complicated. Where should you begin? Whose approach to the golf swing is best for you? How do you know who’s right, and who’s not? lust as there are many ways to teach golf, there are many ways to learn. The key to getting your game off on the right foot, however, is to stick with a teaching style that best suits your playing ability and personality. Find an instructor who represents a teaching style that suits you. In Golf Tips, we try to keep our roster of golf instructors as varied as possible. Some of our teachers are heavily mechanical; others are more feel-oriented; some fall some- where in between. As you read this website, we don’t expect you to try every tip, test every theory and execute every drill. In fact, I’d advise you not to do that. Instead, read on and see what resonates with you. See what tips and advice make the most sense to you, and when they do. give them a go.
After you Whittle your particular taste down, the next step in learning to play better golf is two-fold. First, you have to trust your instructor. If you don’t trust his/her advice, no matter how good it is, you’re not going to reap the bene?ts of the expertise. Second, you have to stay disciplined. Don’t get distracted. Stick with a teacher or teaching style for at least a few weeks and see if it works for you. If it doesn’t, then move on to a different strategy. But don’t jump from one teaching style to another as often as you change socks. You’ll never get any better. (I have ?rsthand experience with that, trust me. It got ugly.)
